What Is an MK?

Understanding Missionary Kids and the importance of MK ministry.

Who Are MKs?

MK (Missionary Kid) refers to the child of missionaries who has lived and grown up on the mission field alongside their parents' missionary ministry.

Regardless of their own choice, they are the next generation who have experienced a missional life from an early age within diverse cultures and environments.

Why Is MK Ministry Necessary?

MKs are not simply the children of missionaries, but little missionaries who have already grown up experiencing the mission field from childhood.

They are valuable resources with global awareness, cultural understanding, and missionary experience, as well as future mission leaders with the potential to influence the next generation of world missions.

At the same time, many MKs wrestle with identity, belonging, cultural transitions, and spiritual challenges that require ongoing care and support.

Therefore, continuous community, discipleship, and spiritual nurturing are deeply important aspects of MK ministry.

Why Focus on Adult MKs (YAMKs)?

During childhood, many MKs participate in mission life through their parents' ministry.

Adulthood becomes the season in which they must personally discern and respond to their own identity and God's calling.

Not every MK is called to become a missionary.

However, every MK is called to live a missional life for the Kingdom of God.

Dream Mission Global exists to help adult MKs discover their identity, embrace their calling, and become next-generation global mission leaders.
